Mission Statement:

To make early childhood resources available to young children so that they are properly cared for (healthy, safe, age appropriately educated) and able to enter school ready to learn.

Agency’s Goals and Programs:

The partnership wants to ensure that children enter school healthy and ready to learn more. These resources are available to kids from birth to five years old, but not yet in kindergarten. There are also programs such as Head Start and Public Pre-K that help educate children before they reach elementary school. Head Start is geared toward education for children of families in poverty in a family-centered environment.

Agency Impact on Community:

The partnership informs the community that education needs to begin at a young age. It also brings together other groups to help the children. They provide the resources such as educational toys and school supplies to make this possible. There are 33 licensed centers in Stanly County alone. During the ’08-’09 fiscal year, 70% of Stanly County children from zero to five years old were enrolled in four and five star facilities.

Volunteer Duties:

  • Copying and filing papers
  • Brainstorming ways to decorate the display windows
  • Taking inventory in the resource room
  • Visiting different sites and spending time with children at other facilities
