Agency’s Mission Statement

The Solid Rock Food Closet exists to provide food assistance to the residents of Alleghany County. By screening and coordination with other social service agencies, the Solid Rock Food Closet will seek to provide the maximum impact upon hunger in Alleghany County.

Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served

The Solid Rock Food Closet’s goal is to provide nutritious and wholesome food to individuals and families that are at risk of going hungry while paying special attention to diabetics, children, and babies.

Agency’s Impact on the Community

The Solid Rock Food Closet feeds an average of 1063 individuals a month as well as 488 children a month with their weekend feed/backpack program. The impact is very significant considering that the population of the county is 10,500 people. Not only are they making an impact on the lives of their clients, but they are also impacting the volunteers. The food closet has also impacted our community by creating hunger awareness through food drives, fundraisers, and speaking engagements.
