Agency Mission Statement:
To reduce animal overpopulation with spay/neuter programs and community education; to temporarily shelter stray and unwanted animals by providing food, water, veterinary care, and nurturing; to provide an adoption program to place animals in a caring, appropriate, and responsible home; and to serve as an advocate for animals, promoting humane standards and preventing cruelty.
Agency Goals and Programs:
Robeson aims to provide a temporary shelter for stray and unwanted animals and to educate the public about pet overpopulation. They have a program called Leash on Life that selects prison inmates to train dogs to obey various commands.
Agency Impact:
The humane society has spayed and neutered hundreds of pets, severely cutting pet overpopulation down to an almost reasonable level. It has also helped many animals find their second chance at “forever homes.”
Volunteer Duties:
- Sterilizing animal cages
- Walking/Playing with animals in need of energy release
