Agency’s Mission Statement

HIGHTS combats deterioration and juvenile delinquency in Western North Carolina by connecting youth to their community through experimental activities, local educational resources, and community service projects.

Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served

HIGHTS works in partnership with the public school system and other local agencies that serve the community to identify and assist youth in need of outside support to be successful in achieving a healthy and positive lifestyle. Once identified, HIGHTS provides supplemental income resources to provide services to help youth achieve set goals. HIGHTS provides programs designed to help youth’s physical and mental health, increase their social skills, and instill a general sense of purpose and direction. HIGHTS currently serves youth in Jackson, Haywood, Swain, and Macon counties with year round programs, including a ten week summer program.

Agency’s Impact on the Community

HIGHTS currently serves 579 youth and their families. In 2009, HIGHTS has provided $12,900 in free programming to public schools and $5,400 in free services to youth in the community. HIGHTS partners with fifteen local nonprofit agencies to assist them in reaching their goals.
