“Matthews Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit ministry working to build simple, decent, and affordable houses with community volunteers in partnership with qualified families currently living in inadequate housing.”

Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served

The objectives of the ReStore are to increase the number of homes built with low-income families through Habitat for Humanity Matthews, prevent usable items and materials from going to landfills, and provide quality building materials to the general public at discounted prices.

Agency’s Impact on the Community

This agency has made a sizable impact on the community. First, because the ReStore helps fund construction, more families have been able to live in quality Habitat for Humanity Matthew homes, helping to raise morale and dignity of those families. Also, the ReStore sometimes serves as a community social hub, bringing friends and neighbors together. In addition, because the ReStore prevents some items form entering landfills, this has helped improve the environmental quality of the Eastern Mecklenburg area.
