Agency’s Mission Statement
The Granville County Schools will prepare our students today for a successful tomorrow. In so doing, we will cultivate the desire for lifelong learning in each student. To achieve this mission, we will continually strive to improve our educational services and to meet the community’s standards for quality.
Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served
The intent of this agency (the Granville County ESL Program) is to provide limited English proficiency (LEP) students with an opportunity to participate effectively in an instructional English environment. The Granville County ESL program strives to meet the English development needs of students, adapt to existing district curriculum to improve performance, and utilize appropriate resources to meet both language development and curriculum requirements.
Agency’s Impact on the Community
The Granville County ESL Program impacts the community by helping LEP students become more proficient in English. In return, these students are better prepared to fully participate in regular or accelerated academic environments. It also helps them to feel more socially comfortable in school and the culture at large. In addition, students improve in areas of reading comprehension, writing, and communication, which reduces the retainment of LEP students in the school system.
