Agency’s Mission Statement
To provide resources and services for community residents of all ages by enhancing and contributing to their educational, informational, recreational, and leisure needs in the most efficient manner possible.
Agency’s Goals and Programs Offered to Clients/People Served
The agency’s goal is to recognize their responsibility to serve as a place for children to discover the joy of reading and the value of libraries as well as supplying adults with current reading materials, providing references to students of all academic levels. Lastly, their goal is to make facilities available for local individuals, organizations, and agencies to do community work.
Impact the Agency Has Made on the Community
TheĀ library serves as a learning and activities center for all residents of the city of Washington and the surrounding Beaufort County area.
Duties You Will Perform as a Volunteer
- Helping with the Summer Reading Program (registering children, helping with reading charts, etc.)
- Shelving books
- Repairing books
- Cleaning DVDs and CDs
- Covering hardback books
- Checking and distributing mail
- Shelf reading and straightening shelves
- Straightening newspapers and magazines
- Helping the technical services team with projects
- Filing registration cards
- Helping the Director with the procedure manual (typing and putting things in notebooks)
