“The CaroMont Heart Center provides a full range of life-saving cardiac care including open heart surgery. And, the Comprehensive Cancer Center provides advanced 3-D radiation treatment planning and chemotherapy. An expansive, surgical suite offers the latest advancements such as stereotactic technology, a procedure using computer simulation, microscopic surgery and x-ray images for pinpoint accuracy. A neonatal intensive care unit for high risk infants and a pre-adolescent psychiatric center are among the latest services aimed at improving the health status of our community.” (from their website). Other services provided include the emergency room, birth place, advanced spine care, surgical services, and special care units.

Agency’s Impact on the Community

The hospital has over 300 physicians to serve the Gaston County area. It has 435 beds and all rooms are private. When the hospital first opened, it was a memorial for soldiers who had died in WWII. The hospital still serves as a symbol to the community, and the only hospital that people know to turn to.
