Mission Statement:

To collect and preserve artifacts that illuminate regional history, and to interpret them to current and future generations through exhibits, publications, and educational programs, to encourage appreciation of visual arts through the collection and exhibition of fine examples of artistic endeavor, to promote and encourage historic preservation and renovation, and to promote the understanding of heritage and history.

Agency’s Goals and Programs:

The goals of the museum are to reach out to the community and promote the history of Dallas. They offer programs for adults and children such as drop-in camps, concerts, guided tours, family days, and even special days for toddlers.

Agency Impact on Community:

The museum of art and history has provided the history of Gaston County to the community. It has promoted the education of history and the importance of history. It has also taught the young and the old of the community about objects of history that may have been foreign to them.

Volunteer Duties:

• Helping with the day camps as well as helping with the tours
• Acting as the resident photographer
• Helping restore the museum’s website
