Mission Statement:

To promote peaceful homes, to build safe communities, and to empower individuals and families to heal from domestic and sexual violence.

Agency’s Goals and Programs:

FVRC has many programs including a 24 hour crisis line, a shelter for women and children who are in a crisis situation, counseling services, support groups, court advocacy, and community training to raise awareness about family violence, as well as day camps for children.

Agency Impact on Community:

FVRC is the only agency of its kind in Chatham County. Representatives of FVRC visited all the schools once a year to raise awareness about family violence and to let their services be known. FVRC also owns a thrift store on Main Street called Second Bloom and all proceeds go to help fund the shelter for women and children.

Volunteer Duties:

  • Helping out with Second Bloom
  • Sorting through clothes and manning the cash register
  • Performing desk duties
  • Helping out with the day camp for the children
