Agency’s Mission Statement

Durham Arts Council, Inc. promotes excellence in and access to the creation, experience, and active support of the arts for all the people of our community.

Agency’s Goals and Programs Offered to Clients/People Served

DAC programs classes in performing, literary, and visual arts for people of all ages. They help professional and amateur artists produce all types of art. They help residents and visitors find, enjoy, and participate in artistic and cultural events available in the community. They provide grants, information, and networking for artists and art groups. They provide exhibit space for visual artists.

Impact the Agency Has Made on the Community

DAC integrates art into classroom curriculums in their CAPS programs with Durham Public Schools. DAC has made art and the tools to produce art accessible to the community.

Duties You Will Perform as a Volunteer

• Lead children to and from classes
• Participate in group activities
• Supervise field trips
