Through its faculty and graduates, the Duke University Department of Biomedical Engineering is a driving force in creating engineering knowledge and novel biomedical technology that improve the human condition through the advancement of clinical care and biomedical science. Dr. Lori Setton is a professor in Department of Biomedical Engineering Duke University.

Dr. Setton’s lab works closely with medical researchers to identify important problems that impact human health and solve them and using her technical expertise.
The research in Dr. Setton’s laboratory is focused on the role of mechanical factors in the degeneration and repair of soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system, including the intervertebral disc, articular cartilage and meniscus. The goal of her lab is to create engineering knowledge and new biomedical technology that improve the human health and health care.
Agency’s Impact on the Community
Dr. Setton’s lab has published a variety research papers on Cartilage mechanobiology, tissue engineering, and cartilage repair. These are great contributions to research in biomedical engineering. Dr. Setton’s lab has enabled new technologies to clinical research to improve human health.
