Agency Mission Statement:

To enable literate adults and youth to acquire the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and mathematics needed to solve problems encountered in daily life, to take full advantage of opportunities in their environment, and to take part in the transformation of their society.

Agency Goals and Programs:

The literacy council aims to provide basic life skills in reading, writing, math, and speaking through one-on-one tutor sessions. The council also strives to increase the reading in both the youth and adults by providing one-on-one tutoring for the undereducated and illiterate.

Agency Impact:

The literacy council has increased the literacy rate in the county and has encouraged adults and young people to read more.

  • Assisting with summer reading and tutorial programs
