Agency’s Impact on the Community The Center for Applied Aquatic Ecology has done research in cyanobacteria in water reservoirs in North Carolina, and has also done projects that help protect wildlife habitats such as estuaries and rivers. CNR has worked with NC State to install facilities that use less energy, and has also created  a golf course that does not destroy the trees and wildlife habitat. The program stresses five cornerstones to a great leader: honesty, integrity, compassion, diversity, and social responsibility.
