<p>VISIT A COMFORTABLE PLACE:  PUBLIC AND VIRTUAL SPACES</p>
<p>Goal 1:     Residents will have access to more user friendly library facilities.</p>
<p>Goal 2:     Residents will have open and accessible virtual spaces that satisfy their personal reading interests and informational needs.</p>
<p>Goal 3:     Residents will be more aware of the library as a vital informational, recreational, and cultural resource institution.</p>
<p><strong>Agency&#8217;s Impact on the Community</strong></p>
<p>The Pender County Public Library system serves approx. 48,000 residents, offering over 100,000 volumes in its collections including, audio books, music and video materials and periodicals. Through local donation and grants it offers free public internet access, and wireless internet service,  including access to NC Live. The library maintains local history and genealogy collections, provides early literacy outreach to families and childcare providers and facilities, serves as the media center for the county’s early college high school and provides inter-library loan of its collections to county schools. With support from Friends groups it provides a schedule of free programs and classes for all ages.  The facilities include public meeting spaces.  Access to inter-library loan services along with other customary library services is available.  Library staff members serve on boards of several civic organizations.</p>
