Listening to stories, sharing hospitality, counseling in times of crisis, and assisting families with food, clothing, and shelter have all been part of the agency’s impact on the community. Agency’s Goals and Programs: Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses. Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor. Agency Impact on Community: Habitat has created several close-knit communities in the areas for less-fortunate families who truly can care about the housing they have. Volunteer Duties: Assisting in the construction of five different houses Working in the Habitat Restore (Goodwill) if necessary
