The mission statement of Healthy Bladen is to “enhance our community’s quality of life by encouraging personal and community responsibility for good health. ”

Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served

The goal is to forge productive relationships between county agencies that strengthen and improve the local delivery of healthcare services through resources, elimination of duplicate services, and improved access to healthy lifestyles.

Agency’s Impact on the Community

Healthy Bladen has initiated and implemented the following programs:

Health Ministry: Parish Nurse in all major churches

Medications Assistance: Free prescription medications for qualifying persons

Safe Kids Coalition: Activities to reduce unintentional childhood injuries

Mission Possible: Camp for kids at risk to develop Type II Diabetes

Volunteer Duties

  • Serve as leader/staff personnel for Mission Possible Camp: Supervise classes, direct activities, participate in planning and preparation
  • Distribute info to area parks about park safety
  • Distribute info at area businesses about fireworks safety
  • Distribute info to day care centers about summer safety
  • Research, compile, and produce literature as requested for distribution in community
