Besides offering books, movies, and other media, the library has a computer lab, weekly story times for children, a book club for high school students, and the Summer Reading Program for kids of all ages. Agency’s Impact on the Community The agency has made an impact on Alexander County by providing educational resources and programs that promote literacy. Weekly story times allow children to get hooked on reading and grow up with a desire for learning. Also, in our difficult economy, the library allows people to use educational resources at no cost. Those in crisis due to loss of income are eligible for help regardless of race, creed, or martial status. Agency’s goals and programs offered to clients/people served: to prevent homelessness to prevent hunger to prevent utilities from disconnection to help with medicine costs and dental extractions Impact agency has made on the community: Being the only benevolent agency in the county, approximately 350-400 families in crisis are helped.
