Agency’s Mission Statement
To foster the growth and development of at-risk youth in the community by providing a stable environment in which to learn and play after school (as opposed to wandering the streets or staying home alone for hours.) These facilities also serve to reduce gang involvement among children as well as provide an economical way to reduce incarceration rates through prevention.
Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served
The Boys and Girls Clubs offer many programs to foster the growth and development of their youth. These include the arts, character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, sports/fitness/recreation activities, and outdoor and environmental education. The Boys and Girls Club’s goal is to effectively promote the children’s development in these domains through programs.
Agency’s Impact on the Community
The agency has been providing a shelter for children after school for many years and, as a result, has kept them off the streets, out of gangs, significantly raised their grades through tutoring programs, and, in may cases, has provided the children with a sense of love and belonging through their caring and competent staff.
