We do this by collecting, refurbishing, and reusing computers, extending their useful lives.” Agency Programs and Goals: Kramden Institute aims to provide free refurbished computers to deserving underprivileged students so they can utilize the power of a computer to improve themselves and the community. The institute also tries to involve the community in its efforts. Agency Impact: The institute improves the lives of countless deserving kids across the state by providing them with free computers so that they may be better equipped for learning. Also, being a volunteer-based organization, they organize regular ‘Geek-a-thons’ and work nights, allowing community members to improve their computer knowledge while helping others. Kicking 4 Hunger
Kicking 4 Hunger Soccer Camps 6920 Log Cabin Trail Midland, NC 28107 www.kicking4hunger.org (704) 796-5687 Agency’s mission statement: Kicking 4 Hunger is dedicated to bringing the community together for a unified effort to feed the hungry through the game of soccer. Agency goals and programs: This organization provides soccer camps to children ages 5-12 completely free of charge. The camps do ask that campers donate non-perishable canned goods, but this request is completely optional. The agency aims to provide a quality, fun, free soccer camp to local youth while simultaneously raising food to feed the hungry in the community. Impact Agency Has Made: Kicking 4 Hunger has promoted the game of soccer and living a healthy lifestyle through its camps. Through the can donations, K4H has raised thousands of cans of food in its 5 years. Last summer alone, K4H raised 2,727 cans in 6 days worth of camp.
