NCNR protects land critical for preserving important wildlife habitat, rare and endangered species, cornerstones of biodiversity, and working farmland along the New River, through voluntary acquisitions and conservation easements. Agency’s Goals and Programs offered to Clients/People Served NCNR works with private landowners to restore various aspects of the New River. They also work to increase citizens’ capacities to defend and protect the New River watershed by working with local citizens to identify and address specific land and water use activities that threaten the New River’s health, wildlife, and scenery. Projects include the Big Sweep River cleanup, River Builder program, ReNew the New clean up, and New River Expedition.
