Agency Mission Statement:

To provide therapeutic horseback riding for persons with physical, cognitive, and/or emotional disabilities in a safe, structured environment.

Agency Goals and Programs:

ATRC enables up to 45 handicapped children to ride horses every year. This therapy has been shown to increase physical coordination, mental attentiveness, general confidence, and quality of life for disabled people.

Agency Impact:

ATRC provides disabled children with the uniquely therapeutic experience of horseback riding. Since 1986, the organization has worked to improve the quality of life for physically, mentally, and emotionally challenged children in the mountains of Western NC.

Volunteer Duties:

• Cleaning stables
• Maintaining the riding track
• Working with disabled children
• Revamping the organization’s aging website
