Mission Statement:

To provide a unique educational experience on United States history and basic core values through the preservation, interpretation, and recognition of U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations history, equipment, technology, legend, art, and weaponry.

Agency’s Goals and Programs:

The goal of ASOM is to enrich each visitor with rare and significant historic information and artifacts. The ASOM also strives to provide a place for educational programming and research as well as special functions. The museum also offers a video theater and simulation ride that show a changing collection of educational and entertaining works that focus on the airborne and special operations. Tour groups are also offered.

Agency Impact on Community:

ASOM provides the Fayetteville and Fort Bragg communities with an outlet of our United States Army history. The museum harbors decades of important milestones of our country and provides people of all ages, both veterans and civilians, with access to historic information and objects from certain periods of time.

Volunteer Duties:

  • Providing assistance and information about various exhibits and other questions visitors may have
  • Supervising assigned exhibits through correspondence with the the front desk and maintenance of the quality of the objects in the exhibits
  • Administrative work
