NC Student Academy of Science Competition
The State competition for the NCSAS takes place at NCSSM. The community is invited to hear the keynote speaker. Students competitors give oral presentations and are judged by professional scientists. Competitors get valuable feedback from judges.
The keynote speaker is 2012 Nobel Laureate, Dr. Robert Lefkowitz of Duke University http://www.lefkolab.org/ and http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/chemistry/laureates/2012/
Information for NCSSM student competitors -
This is an afternoon and evening competition and you are expected to attend for the whole time.
Registration - you can register during F and E blocks. this is when you will find out where and when your presentation takes place
Orientation - 3:00 in the Auditorium.
Keynote - 3:15 in the auditorium. We expect a crowd to hear Dr. Leflkowitz so don't wait til the last minute to get a seat.
Student Presentations - 4:45-6:30 - you should stay for set of talks in your category
Break - 6:30-7:00 - judges deliberate
Dinner - 7:00-7:45 - you have dinner with your judges. This is your chance to get real feedback on your project and presentation.
Election - 8:00 - students nominate and vote for officers of NCSAS
Award Ceremony - 8:30 - Be there! There's nothing worse than a no-show for an award. Be there!
