Outreach

I have a passion for STEM education and have become one of the primary staff members for the school's Labs for Learning Program.  Labs for Learning (L4L) is an outreach program targeted towards 7-10th grade students in northeastern North Carolina who have demonstrated academic excellence.  The goal of L4L is to encourage participants to pursue and excel in the STEM fields.  To this end, L4L participants engage in STEM activities year-round, with the program highlight being a 2-week residential experience on the campus of NCSSM.  During these 2 weeks, participants attend STEM-focused classes, investigate STEM careers, go on college tours, and receive SAT preparation amongst other things.  The program is in its fourth year and has been a life-changing experience for both the students and staff involved.
