Ross White began his career as a high school English teacher. After joining LEARN NC, a program of the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Education, in 1998, he provided instructional leadership for a program that provided online courses for 3,000 high school students from across the globe. From 2008 through 2012, he served as State Director of e-Learning for Educators, which provided online professional development to thousands of teachers across North Carolina. He served as Executive Director of the North Carolina Virtual Public School from 2011 to 2012, supervising a faculty of over 850 teachers. He runs a community micropress, Bull City Press, and serves as the editor of Inch, a magazine of short poems and prose.  With Matthew Olzmann, he edited Another & Another: An Anthology from the Grind Daily Writing Series, which documents the first two years of The Grind, an online community of practice for writers that he co-founded.  Since 2006, he has been a lecturer in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, teaching poetry writing and grammar. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Pittsboro St. branch of the State Employees Credit Union and is the president of the board of directors for The Hinge Literary Center.
