Ershela L. Sims, PhD

Education:

  • PhD, Biomedical Engineering, University of NC at Chapel Hill (2000)
  • BSE, Biomedical Engineering, Duke University (1993)

Academic Interests:

I have been an Engineering Instructor at NCSSM since 2009.  During my time here, I have developed and introduced multiple engineering courses into the NCSSM curriculum including Introduction to Engineering -- Mechanical, Statics, and Biomedical Instrumentation.  Most of the courses I teach use a combination of project based learning, design projects, and problem sets to give students a foundation in engineering and teach them skills that will be helpful as they pursue undergraduate degrees in engineering. In addition to the aforementioned academic interests, I also have an interest in anatomical education and lower extremity biomechanics research. I continue to do research and publish with my colleagues in both of these areas.
