Bio

Gregory M. Jarvis was named the Athletics Director and Director of Physical Activity and Wellness at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in July 2012. He takes the helm of NCSSM's 22 varsity sports and the physical activity and wellness program.

Jarvis previously served as Meredith College’s Assistant Athletics Director and Sports Information Director. In August 2008, he was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director. Jarvis was named the first full time Sports Information Director of Meredith College in October 2006. Under his service as SID he has led the efforts of Meredith’s new athletic logo, upgrades of the athletics website and the additions of webcasting and media guides. His duties included supporting seven varsity sports with NCAA score reporting, compiling team statistics, completing athletic marketing materials, web page creation/updates, participation in the Meredith College Golf Classic, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. He also supported Meredith College’s Office of Marketing by providing public relations duties and other support.

In August 2010, he added the title of Director of Compliance for Meredith as well as coordinating Student Athlete Affairs. He had previously served as the adviser of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee as well as taught a First Year Experience class for student athletes.

Most recently, Jarvis has been named a freshman academic adviser. He was also selected by the NCAA to be a facilitator for the NCAA Career in Sports Forum that took place in June 2011 in Indianapolis, Indiana and served again for the 2012 forum.

Jarvis holds a Masters degree from North Carolina State University with a concentration in sports management in December 2004 and a Masters of Arts in business communications from Jones International University in May 2004 and a Bachelors of Science with a concentration in consumer studies from Virginia Tech in May 1994.
