This course is a collaboration between NCSSM and the Jackson Lab (Bar Harbor, Maine), along with several other schools in the United States. This course is part of the Research in Computational Science program at NCSSM. The "Jax Lab" students work collaboratively with Jackson Lab scientists via videoconferencing, and learn how to analyze genetic/genomic data that results from the breeding of mice for disease studies. Students prepare an NIH-proposal during the first semester, and then implement their proposal during the second semester. Jax Lab students begin their studies during the spring trimester of the junior year, learning and/or reviewing basic skills in genetics, genomics, mouse studies, statistics, and general computational sciences.
This program is sponsored by the Center for Genome Dynamics (CGD) at the Jackson Lab, with funding from the National Institutes of Health.
