I have a PH.D in Physical Chemistry. I was a tenured Professor at CCNY for 20 years in the City University of New York Medical School. There I developed a learning center, a summer program for at risk students, and a Chemistry course for medical students. I developed a summer program for the Humanities in Medicine Project at Mt Sinai Medical School. I acted as a reviewer of science textbooks, a water and air consultant , and served as a consultant for Purewater Sciences and Radon Associates. I have been at NCSSM for 12 years and I received a Teaching Award for Scholarship.
Publications: 18 professional articles from 1974-1998 on photoelectron spectroscopy, activated carbon, radon, and water pollution involving chlorinated hydrocarbons. These include “Sulfur to Iron Bonding in Cytochrome C Studies by XPS” in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, “Review of Electron Spectroscopy” in Analytical Chemistry and “Charge-transfer Interaction Between Dissolved Humic Materials and Chloranil” in Chemosphere. I also published seven books including “1001 Ideas for Science Projects on the Environment” and a “Study Guide to General Chemistry”.
My interests are in environmental chemistry focusing on air and water pollution associated with fossil fuels. I am also interested in renewable energy with an emphasis on photoelectric cells and solar hot air and hot water technologies.
