2014 Powwow | Saturday, February 1

Event Information:

The NCSSM Powwow is a public, family-friendly event featuring music, dance, arts, crafts and food. The event hosts American Indian dancers, musicians and artists from across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia and is a fun way to learn about and celebrate the region's rich American Indian culture.

Admission:

$5 per person /Free for children 5 and under

Schedule:

  • Intertribal Dancing: 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
  • Master of Ceremonies: J.D. Moore, Waccamaw Siouan Tribe
  • Arena Director: Houston Brad Locklear, Lumbee Tribe
  • Head Female Dancer: Olivia Richardson, Haliwa-Sapomi Tribe, Miss Indian North Carolina, NCSSM alumna Class of 2009
  • Host Drum: Southern Sun, Lumbee Tribe
  • Head Male Dancer: Cody Jacobs, Lumbee Tribe
  • Indian Arts & Crafts Traders (only by prior approval)
  • No contests, just plenty of good singing and dancing.
