 NCSSM External Programs Partnerships

To accomplish the school's outreach mission of improved mathematics teaching and learning, NCSSM works hand in hand with schools across North Carolina-partnering with the state's outstanding teachers and calling on these to help with professional development initiatives hosted on our campus. Further, NCSSM partners with higher education, businesses, foundations, and state agencies. Glaxo Smith Kline, Z.Smith Reynolds Foundation, Progress Energy Foundation, Duke Energy Foundation, and SAS Institute have provided funds for summer programs. Wachovia Foundation and Lincoln Financial have supported school programs. The Burroughs Wellcome Fund was a major partner in the establishment of the Education Future Center. Through this effort, seven cyber campuses (multi-media suites of distance learning, sophisticated computer, and video production facilities) were created and teachers were trained in strategically selected high schools representing North Carolina's more rural areas. NCSSM works closely with the N.C. Department of Public Instruction on curricular and math/science leadership projects. Federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Commerce, NASA and NSF have supported major statewide teaching and learning initiatives. NCSSM staff are active in leading educational professional organizations and are always looking for new ideas and new partnerships.
