There are a number of ways to contribute to the future of NCSSM, offering donors a wide range of flexibility when planning a gift. Contributions to the School may be designated as unrestricted or specified to benefit a particular purpose or department. Gifts may be given outright or pledges can be paid over a three to five year period.

Donors may give:
1. cash
2. stock
3. property
4. planned gifts

Whatever the chosen gift, the NCSSM Foundation is committed to working with donors in identifying the method of giving that best matches the donor’s interests with the needs of the School.

ENDOWED GIFTS
An endowed gift is one in which the principal is never invaded; the gift exists in perpetuity. Endowment funds are the best way to show commitment to and belief in the School, a department or a campus unit. Endowments are generally funded within five years of the initial contribution, and income paid out of the fund is paid to the benefiting area on an annual basis.

The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics Foundation endowment is composed of individual endowed funds, established by donors who each had a vision for the School’s future. NCSSM Foundation’s endowed fund(s) generate(s) income for its designated purpose according to the spending policies established by the NCSSM Foundation Board of Directors.

There is no minimum limit for donated gifts to already existing endowments, including the Foundation’s General Unrestricted Endowment, but the minimum amount for establishing a new fund is $20,000. Additionally, there are minimums for establishing other types of endowed funds as outlined below:

Faculty Sabbatical:
off campus: $1,000,000
on campus: $ 500,000
