Sixty-Two NCSSM seniors were chosen as semifinalists on the basis of his/her 2010 PSAT scores and represent just 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors to be honored by the National Merit Scholarship Program. They now go on to compete for National Merit Scholarships this spring.
To become a finalist, a semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed by his or her high school principal, earn SAT scores that confirm his or her qualifying test performance and submit an application that includes an essay and a list of leadership and community activities.
