NCSSM named a 2013 Best High School by Newsweek and The Daily Beast

Newsweek and The Daily Beast have named NCSSM a Best High School on their 2013 list. NCSSM was named number 23 out of the nation's best 2,000 public high schools that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads.

This is the third-straight year that NCSSM has climbed higher on the list, from 66th in 2011 to 29th in 2012 to the 23rd spot in 2013.

Newsweek and The Daily Beast base its list on six components: graduation rate (25 percent), college acceptance rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course (5 percent).

More than 5,000 high schools were invited to participate in the survey this year, and nearly 2,500 responded. All public high schools in the U.S. are eligible.
