The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction project at NCSSM is a collaboration between the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University and NCSSM.
Dr. Jeffrey Brantley, Director of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program at Duke Integrative Medicine, will speak before the NCSSM student body on Wednesday, September 7, in the ETC General Assembly Hall.
Dr. Brantley is a world-renowned expert in the field of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), which involves reflective practices based in the modern science of mind-body medicine. These practices facilitate the cultivation of self–awareness and a large body of empirical research demonstrates that participation in MBSR programs enhances overall health and well-being. MBSR has been offered at many of the leading health sciences centers in the United States and in communities around the world.
As part of NCSSM's overall Wellness Initiative, students are studying the effects of stress on their peers with the goal of developing an MBSR program tailored for NCSSM students.
Dr. Brantley’s presentation will take place from 3:25 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on September 7 in the ETC General Assembly Hall (Auditorium) at NCSSM and will include time for questions and discussion.
