NCSSM anatomy, biology and Chinese courses gave Max Lowman '13 a solid foundation for his work with China California Heart Watch, an organization that conducts education and training of rural medical professionals, provides free health care to poor Chinese farmers and their children and conducts medical research. The Class of 2013 alumnus spent nearly a month this summer working and learning in rural China before beginning his freshman year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he plans to study chemistry and Chinese.
