Kicking4Hunger, founded in 2006 by NCSSM alumnus Gabe Whaley, is a nonprofit organization that runs soccer camps and clinics for children throughout North Carolina. Instead of charging typical admission or registration fees, Kicking4Hunger simply encourages a donation of nonperishable food items. These items are then donated back into local food banks.  The main mission of Kicking4Hunger is to promote the love of soccer, to fight hunger, and to empower local communities.

On Friday, October 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 29 from 9 a.m. to noon, Kicking4Hunger will be teaming up with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and students from NCSSM to fight hunger in the local Durham community. Over the course of these two days, Kicking4Hunger will hold a soccer clinic for children ages 5 through 11 and will teach the fundamentals of soccer through activities, drills, and competitions.

The clinic will be coached by members of the NCSSM men’s and women’s soccer teams. In addition to fighting hunger, this particular Kicking4Hunger clinic aims to raise awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

All donations received by Kicking4Hunger during the week prior to the event and at the event itself will benefit the foundation. There will be representatives from the foundation present at the clinic with more information about the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
