Relationship to guideline

Teachers should encourage students to practice distinguishing between types of evidence and to analyze their sources carefully.  For example, court testimonies are a particular type of evidence that should be interpreted carefully.  Students should be encouraged to consider why a particular text was written, who the intended audience was, whether there were any biases inherent in the information, and how the information has been used to interpret various events.
