Faculty Senate

Purpose of the Senate:

 

  • To act as the sole campus-wide, faculty-elected, representative, and deliberative body which speaks for the NCSSM faculty.
  • To present to the Chancellor its point of view on all matters of concern to NCSSM.
  • To consider general and specific educational policies of NCSSM from creative, analytical, and critical standpoints.
  • To act on behalf of the NCSSM faculty.
  • To assist the Chancellor in every way possible in finding the most satisfactory operation of NCSSM's programs.
  • To seek to carry out those tasks assigned to it by the Chancellor.

 

Communication Channels:

 

Via a Representative: Contact your department's Senate representatives or at-large representatives (identified below) to find out faculty-related information.  Also, feel free to voice your ideas/concerns to any Senate member for consideration at a future meeting.

 

Directly: Come to the Senate meetings! All faculty members are welcome to attend Senate meetings.  If you cannot attend but want to know more about what's happening in the Senate, review the meeting minutes (posted below). You can also regularly visit this webpage to stay abreast of all things related to the Faculty Senate.
