Composition

Student Government is made up of a President, Treasurer and Student Senate. The Senate has six elected senior senators, six junior senators, eight residence hall senators, up to six senators at-large, and an elected Student Senate President. There are two Advisors to work with Student Government. Weekly meetings are held and are open to the public.

Elections

elections for President, Treasurer and Senior Senator occur during the spring (traditionally in April). Student Senate President is elected by the Senate at the first meeting of the incoming officers. Junior Senators and Residence Hall Senators are elected in September. At Large Senators will be selected between October and December.

Clubs

Students may form a club based on a common interest or goal through Student Government and the Inter-Club Council. Each club must have a staff advisor that agrees to be present at all meetings and to be the liaison for the group. Clubs must be open to all members of the community. Students wishing to form a club will obtain a Club Charter Form from the Student Government Treasurer, provide all necessary information including Club Sponsor signature and then return it to the Treasurer.

Funding Requests

Clubs will be offered the opportunity twice a year to request funds to supplement or support club events. The Treasurer and designated committee will consider all requests, and submit a proposed budget to the Student Senate for consideration. All Club Presidents and Sponsors will be notified of allocated funds. This funding is provided through the NCSSM Foundation. All advances or reimbursements will be made to the Club Sponsor and cannot be made to individual students.

Mr. Unicorn

Mr. Unicorn is annual variety show sponsored by the Student Government Association. Typically performed in early December, junior and senior males work together and individually to showcase talent, dancing and comedy.

SG Lock-Ins

Student Government sponsors (with Student Life approval and support) three lock-ins per year (Fall, Spring, End of Year). Students have the opportunity spend the evening in the PEC for a combination of games, dancing, music and movies. Student Life staff escort students back to their residential buildings typically at 3:00 a.m.
