Room Furniture

You are here

Each room is furnished with a numbered bed, desk, chair, wardrobe, and dresser which are assigned to a student on Move-In Day. As there is limited storage space on campus and students are responsible for the furniture they are assigned, all furniture must remain in the room. Students may rearrange the furniture but:

  • the use of lofts and stilts are prohibited;
  • doorways must remain clear of obstruction;
  • doors must open freely to an angle of 90 degrees without hitting the furniture;
  • the furniture may not block air vents and thermostats;
  • the furniture must be used in the manner for which it was designed, i.e., beds may not be placed on top of wardrobes and wardrobes may not be stacked on top of dressers;
  • due to state health regulations, mattresses may not be placed on the floor.

Furniture from public areas may not be taken into student rooms, i.e., lounge furniture and rolling chairs from computer labs and the library may not be removed for personal use. Students who do not maintain the condition of their furniture during the year will have to pay for damages through their security deposits.
