Teaching Contemporary Mathematics Conference NCSSM
The Mathematics
Department of NCSSM offers a
two-day conference each winter filled with great
talks by teachers who use technology, apply ideas to real world
situations, and involve students as
problem solvers.
Topics relate to
Statistics, Algebra II, Advanced Functions and Modeling, Precalculus,
and Calculus.

The featured speaker will be:
- Gail Burrill, Mathematics Specialist from Michigan State University, speaking on "Ingredients for Successful Lessons: Challenging Tasks and Questions that Count"
Speakers at the Conference will include:
- Ron Lancaster from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto on "A Mathematical Tour of the Buildings in Abu Dhabi";
- Philip Rash from NCSSM will discuss some simple mathematics related to the operation of electric vehicles;
- Daren Starnes from The Lawrenceville School on "Statistics for Common Core: From Randomness to Inference";
- Dan Teague from NCSSM on the mathematics of "How to Find a Spouse".
