When I look at this woman,
the first thing I see
is an eyebrow.
Like someone took a marker
and drew a parenthesis on her forehead.
But this woman has no closing parenthesis.
She begins at her eyebrow
and her entire existence is a digression,
an explanatory clause that adds to the world around her,
an additional breath that amplifies life.
When I look at this woman,
the first thing I see
is her eyebrow.
And then our worlds proceed on a tangent.
