Cigarettes but not cigars

Shoe stores

Books and libraries

Cemeteries, but not funeral homes

Grandmother’s gown

Teddy bear

Magnolias in the wild

Wisteria

No lavender or cotton blossom

Those candles always cheapen the true identity

Bananas don’t have one

But I’d like it if they did

Baby shampoo

Always seems better than grown up shampoo

Perhaps it’s infused with youth?

Youth and maturity

Slight sweat, not full blown drenched

Roses are over rated

But not unwelcome

Fresh coffee

Room temperature coffee

Stagnant coffee

Any coffee

rosemary and basil but

no thyme for me

or anything else in the grand scheme of things

the ocean whose taste is the only thing that’s better

Korean, western omelets

Yakisoba late at night

Beautiful, matches its name

Cedar and pine

I always felt dogs should be better

Seems like man’s best friend should smell the part

Cats, too finicky for nice scents

Don’t like the one their born with? Get a dog

Or bird

But birds are hard to smell

What with those pesky wings

Chicken (pesky becomes delicious)

Freshly cut grass

Not dandelions

Do they even have one?

Skin, not overly scented

Just natural the way they were intended to be

Without embellishment

Or scent refreshment

Standing alone

Being themselves

Scents I have grown accustomed to

And could not live without

Or would not want to live without

Or would want to live without but would not enjoy doing so

The nose knows after all
