A Letter from Henry Kuo

On behalf of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics Foundation Board of Directors, I am pleased to present the 2004-2005 Annual Report. The NCSSM Foundation is a private organization that provides support to NCSSM, assisting the School to be the very best it can be for today’s young North Carolinians. Gifts to the Foundation may go to the Annual Fund, the Endowment funds, or any Odyssey Campaign initiative. The Endowment, with total assets over $4,000,000, provides a permanent financial base to help the School in years to come. This past year, the NCSSM Foundation supported activities and opportunities such as student activities, Wachovia MiniTerm, Science Now, Robotics, Summer Research, and Alumni Programs.

I greatly thank the Foundation Board of Directors and the NCSSM Staff for their countless number of volunteer hours and their invaluable guidance and feedback. People who give their time and energy to the School provide an invaluable service, and we would not be where we are today without their contributions. We are all here for a common goal: to help make NCSSM a better place.

As NCSSM celebrates a Quarter Century, we continually look for ways to make NCSSM a place that responds to the needs of the community. We are constantly looking for ways and ideas on how to move the school forward and how to continue to provide a superior learning environment for the students. Our successes and philanthropic work would not be possible without the generosity of many donors and volunteers. For that, we are very appreciative.

Please continue to keep us in your thoughts as we move into the second Quarter Century. NCSSM is a special institution that has served as a model across the country and across the world. Its reputation is unparalleled. Its alumni are immensely loyal. Its friends are extremely giving. Your stewardship and your financial support are very important to the School’s continued success. I am delighted to be a part of this institution and, again, thank you for being a part of this special place.
