Endowments Endowments have been, and will continue to be, a cornerstone of current
and future fundraising campaigns executed by the NCSSM Foundation. We
are committed to growing both the number of endowments and their value.
In fiscal year 2004-2005, donors added three new endowments to the 19
already in existence. The NCSSM Foundation extends its gratitude to the
donors of the following new endowments for their support: The George E. and Etta Lou Loftin Fund – This endowment will provide assistance for NCSSM students with a demonstrated financial need. A number of students come to NCSSM each year possessing the intellect to be successful at NCSSM but lacking the financial means to pursue their education at a residential school. This endowment will make sure that, for these students, financial concerns do not hinder their intellectual pursuits at NCSSM. The Faculty Award – This endowment will provide one scholarship each year to an NCSSM graduate entering Duke University. NCSSM has a long-standing tradition of sending talented and promising graduates to our local universities; this scholarship will ensure that the pipeline between Duke and NCSSM remains open by assisting a deserving student each year with the financial responsibilities assumed with enrollment at Duke. The Aldrich Music Endowment – Though a school of science and mathematics, NCSSM also boasts an extremely impressive music department. The department offers a number of advanced courses in both the study and performance of various genres of music that allow NCSSM’s students to explore the creative side of academic life. With the support of this endowment, NCSSM’s music department will continue to nurture the impressive talent of NCSSM’s musicians. |
