The NCSSM Foundation Annual Report provides us the opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past year. Here you will find financial details on the Foundation’s fundraising efforts for the fiscal year 2011-2012 as well as snapshots of some of the projects, activities and people that donors directly helped support.

The Annual Report also provides the opportunity to look to the future. During 2011-2012, NCSSM’s employees, students, alumni, parents, board members and other stakeholders worked together to develop a comprehensive Strategic Plan for NCSSM’s future. It is an ambitious plan, but being a school that has always risen to meet great challenges, NCSSM is moving forward with many exciting initiatives that seek to improve education for students and educators across North Carolina.

The main objectives NCSSM is striving to reach include:

• Have each residential student develop and be engaged in a real world learning experience.
• Annually increase the percentage of graduates who are actively engaged in STEM-related fields.
• Have a collaborative partnership with a majority of school districts in each congressional district in North Carolina to provide high-quality educational content and services to teachers and students.
• Engage 1,000,000 students and 100,000 teachers through NCSSM products or services over the next 5 years.

As you’ll see in this report, great things are happening at the School, which is made possible in large part to the generosity of NCSSM Foundation donors. I hope you will take the time to read through the Annual Report and learn more about what your giving goes toward every day.
